Bouncing Back: Damian’s Journey From Wrist Fracture to Golf Course Comeback

Injury can stop you in your tracks.

It halts your momentum tests your patience and challenges your mindset. But if there’s one thing Damian Murphy has proven it’s that progress is possible with consistency hard work and the right support system.

The Injury That Changed Everything

Back in May 2024 Damian suffered a serious dislocated wrist fracture. Not just the type that sidelines you physically it shakes your confidence too.

“I was gutted. It wasn’t just the pain. It was knowing how long the road back would be” Damian recalls.

His return to training began slowly around August. Progress was steady at first but by October he realised the flexibility in his injured wrist was still miles behind his good one.

“I just wasn’t getting the same range of motion. It was frustrating” he said.

After another consultation with his surgeon Damian made the tough decision to have the plates and pins removed in December. It wasn’t easy but it was the right call and it set the stage for his comeback.

The Return to Training

In early 2025 he resumed gym work properly. Movement was still limited but the strength and flexibility began creeping back in.

“It’s taken a lot longer than I expected” he admits. “But you’ve got to be patient. It’s been nearly a year now since the injury. That’s just how it goes sometimes.”

Here are a few key movements that helped Damian regain control and confidence in his wrist:

✅ Medicine Ball Work“Great for building back that explosive control.”
Dumbbell Movements – “They really help get things moving again.”
Ab Wheel Rollouts – “A killer for the core and a surprisingly good stretch for the wrist when done right.”

And once the wrist got stronger the classics came back like bench press sessions.

Mental Recovery Is Just as Important

Physical pain is one thing but Damian also opened up about the mental battle.

“It’s tough mentally. You think it’s the end of the world. You feel like it’s never going to heal. But you just have to put in the effort day by day.”

His advice for anyone going through a similar recovery?

“Stick with it. Give it time. Keep showing up even when it’s hard. Eventually things will turn around.”

Back on the Golf Course

One of the biggest milestones? Getting back to the golf course Damian’s first love and his biggest frustration during recovery.

“Not being able to golf was the hardest part” he said. “But now I’ve played two full rounds back-to-back weekend games. That meant the world to me.”

The Journey Continues

Damian’s not done yet. He’s still rebuilding still progressing but he’s in a far better place than he was this time last year.

He’s even thinking about doing a follow-up video to show how far he’s come.
For now he’s back in the gym back on the course and back doing what he loves.

We’re proud to be part of that journey. 💪⛳
